GROWING rumours that 37-year-old crowd favourite Jack Lester is about to retire have been quashed by Chesterfield boss Paul Cook.
Cook said of the striker, now in his sixth season with the club said: “He’s not going anywhere and he’s not retiring. He’ll be on the bus to Plymouth this weekend.”
Lester is just nine goals short of a century for the club.
The Spireites will almost certainly be unchanged for the match against the League Two strugglers.
Cook is very much a manager that likes to stick with a team if the players have done enough to earn their shirts, and he felt the 4-1 win against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday was a performance that meant 11 starters deserve to keep their places.
He said: “We’re not getting carried away because we’ve won two football matches.”
Striker Craig Westcarr, who’s been put on the transfer list by Chesterfield, has joined Walsall on loan until January.
