Spireites’ weekend hosts Crewe Alexandra will be without their leading scorer Marcus Haber for Saturday’s game.

The Cheshire side – bottom of League One and the second lowest scorers in the section – have lost the 6ft3 25-year-old striker to an international call up after being selected by Canada to face Panama.

Haber – a summer signing from Stevenage – has scored four goals this season, most notably the only goal of a 1-0 home win against lofty Peterborough United.

Key defender George Ray remains suspended but strikers Fabien Brandy and Danny Haynes are available again after being ineligible for the goalless draw with Sheffield United in the cup last week due to terms of their loans from Rotherham United and Notts County respectively.

Crewe boss Steve Davis should be able to select Alan Tate and Liam Noble who’ve both been absent from training with minor injuries but Matt Tootle (virus) remains a doubt.

Former Spireites man Chris Atkinson is also a doubt; he was subbed at half time against Nigel Clough’s team last Saturday.

Chesterfield manager Paul Cook has no fresh injury worries following the 6-0 win at Braintree Town and looks set to select the same eleven that started that game. The big selection issue will be whether to keep the 4-4-2 formation with Sam Clucas alongside Eoin Doyle or revert to his favoured 4-2-3-1 with Clucas moving wide in the ‘three.’

Spireites will be seeking a third clean sheet on the trot after shutting out Yeovil.
