Chesterfield boss Paul Cook has defended striker Marc Richards ahead of today’s game with Dagenham and Redbridge.
“Marc was bought in at the start of the season as a marquee signing and it’s been a stop-start season for him with a number of niggling injuries,” Cook said. “He is a good player but at times he’ll need support like everybody else.”
With no goals from any member of the team in three games and none for Richards in six, Cook is hoping that Armand Gnanduillet begins to shine.
“It’s quite plain to see where our problems are and that’s good,” Cook said. “Once we can solve those problems I’m sure we’ll be a better team.”
