Spireites manager Paul Cook will be hoping to strengthen his squad in a bid to win promotion.
Chief executive Chris Turner confirmed that the club had made an offer for Port Vale midfielder Sam Morsy, and Cook added: “We need to bring in a centre-half and, the most important position of all, we need to bring in a left-sided midfielder, someone who gets people off their seats.
“Everyone from the chairman down wants success so recruitment is huge and everyone wants that left-sided midfielder.
“On the left, we’ve got Nathan Smith whose quality isn’t his crossing or his finishing. I love Nathan more than anything at the club, he’s a fantastic defender, but whoever plays in front of him must have quality.”
