Danny Wilson admits Saturday’s opponents Fleetwood are just an example of how crazy League One is turning out this year.
The Cod Army are back in the relegation fold after three straight defeats and just one win in their last five,
They head to the Proact on Easter Saturday just a place and two points shy of the Spireites.
“You think that after the good run we’ve been on in the last seven games that would make us safe, but we’re not,” said Wilson.
“Fleetwood will feel the same.
“With the results they had prior to the three losses you would think they would have got themselves out of it.
“All of a sudden they’ve been plunged back in again but this league is so inconsistent.
“I’ve said it before the results are just erratic.
“They are coupon-busters in a lot of respects.”
Wilson admits that he hasn’t set a points target in order to achieve survival and also dismisses the idea of players thinking about earning new deals over the final few games.
He added: “I think from where we are, I don’t know what it’s going to take.
“The players have got to think about getting three points.
“If you start thinking about the future, contracts etc. then it will jsut eat away at them and the performances will show that.
“The players know there’s pressure on the game.”
