CHESTERFIELD caretaker manager Tommy Wright was understandably disappointed when his side conceded the lead five minutes into stoppage time at York City.
However, Wright heaped praise on striker Craig Westcarr, who scored Chesterfield’s second goal, following his effort against Gillingham a week earlier.
After returning from a one-match ban for picking up two yellow cards at Priestfield, Wright said of his striker: “Craig has looked sharp, very sharp for the last couple of weeks. I had to play him.
“He’s shown us in training and he showed us at Gillingham that he’s got that hunger back in his game and he took his goal very well.”
Westcarr’s fellow forward, Marc Richards, also impressed at York. Wright said: “I thought he did well and contributed a lot.
“Marc just needs a goal.”
Chesterfield entertain Wycombe Wanderers at home on Saturday and Wright added: “They’ve got a good manager in Gary Waddock and we’ll prepare well for that game.”
