BOSS John Sheridan has extended winger Rohan Ricketts’ trial at Chesterfield.

The former Arsenal man has done well against Championship opposition.

It was expected a firm decision would be made after the Hull game, but instead an extra few days’ try-out has been granted.

The Spireites’ squad, which is still likely to be added to ahead of Saturday’s trip to Tranmere, remain unsure about who will start at Prenton Park.

Defender Aaron Downes said: “We’ve all put our claims forward; there’s still a bit of training left to prove ourselves.

“But if you don’t start the first game no-one will feel they’ve lost anything. We’ve all got good pre-seasons under our belts and it’s going to be a long season, so players will all get used at some stage.

“You just need to keep going. I hope I’m on the team sheet on Saturday and if I’m not, I’ll work hard because there’s a game the following Tuesday.” Poster: see P35
