DONCASTER Rovers Belles will be looking to record an historic WSL double in tonight’s home game against Lincoln at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Rovers beat the ‘Imps’ 1-0 in their opening league game of the season at Sincil Bank courtesy of a goal by former skipper Vicky Exley.
“It was a good win on the night and a good way to start the season because they’d spent a lot more than we had on players,” said Belles’ boss John Buckley.
Belles have yet to win a game since the season resumed after it’s summer break for the World Cup in Germany whereas their opponents have won away at Bristol and Everton and beaten Liverpool at home and drawn with leaders Blackburn. Their only defeat was a 4-0 reversal at second-placed Arsenal.
“They are on a roll at the moment and it’s going to be a tough game but it is one that we can win,” said Buckley.
“They’ve got two England wingers so they are going to be a threat out wide and that’s something that we’ll have to be aware off.”
Belles, who haven’t won in seven games are curently second bottom, one point ahead of Liverpool with two games to play with a game in hand. They will be without Scottish defender Jill Scott.
