Spireites ace agrees switch to Oakwell

CHESTERFIELD striker Craig Davies is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement today to play for Barnsley next season.

The sought-after Spireites hitman is out of contract at the end of the month and wants the chance to challenge himself in the Championship with the Reds.

The Star understands the ambitious 25-year-old, who scored 23 league goals last term to help the Spireites win promotion to League One, has been persuaded by new Reds’ boss Keith Hill to lead his strikeforce next term and will put pen to paper on a two-year-deal.

Davies signed for the Spireites on a one-year deal from Brighton in July 2010 - and his impressive goalscoring form last season won him many admirers.

In more good news for the Reds, highly-rated Colchester United midfielder David Perkins has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.

Perkins, aged 28, was at Oakwell yesterday and signed a two-year-deal.
