Rookie keeper's league chance

THIRD-choice Barnsley keeper Kyle Letheren could be in line to make his league debut on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was thrust into the firing line in Saturday's FA Cup tie after Heinz Muller failed to appear for the second half against Blackpool and with second choice Nick Colgan ruled out of the squad unfit.

Both senior keepers have groin injuries and Muller was having a scan today to discover the extent of his problem.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey was delighted with Letheren's second -half clean-sheet in the win over Blackpool and may use him against Norwich in the Championship at Oakwell on Saturday.

Striker Keigan Parker could complete a move to Barnsley this week.

If personal terms are agreed over the next few days, it is understood that the Scot could sign on at Oakwell.

After Saturday's match, Blackpool boss Simon Grayson stressed that Parker was still a Blackpool player.

"He was involved in the travelling party for this game but he was just left out of the 16, as he has been for the last few matches," said Grayson.

"That is all there is to it. That will remain the case until we get an offer that we think is acceptable and he can agree personal terms."

Barnsley are still awaiting clearance for Spanish midfielder Diego Leon to play.

He was barred from being involved in Saturday's cup tie by red tape despite having moved to Barnsley from Zurich earlier this month.

Davey hopes to have clearance to use him in time for the weekend.

Defender Lewin Nyatanga was not involved in Derby's FA Cup tie with Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

Striker Jon Macken, who was on loan with Nyatanga at Barnsley, came on as sub in that match.

Davey would like both players back.
