Reds seek No 2 keeper

SIMON Davey is well aware of the need to sign another keeper as cover for club No 1 Luke Steele.

Heinz Muller and third choice Kyle Letheren have both left Oakwell.

Earlier this month Muller joined German outfit FSV Mainz 05 for a 600,000 three-year contract. Letheren spent most of last season on loan at Doncaster and failed to earn a Reds debut.

"We're looking to get a No 2 in to push Luke Steele hard, we want a player that is able to step into the No 1 position at any time," Davey told The Star.

"Kyle is a good young keeper, but we didn't feel he had the experience or the pedigree to fill that role.

"It's a hard position to fill, especially in this division because every keeper wants to have the No 1 jersey.

"We need cover for Luke and we'd like to sign more players. We're still looking at trying to find another striker and maybe fill another position or two."
