Reds ace earns his place with two-goal comeback

ANDY Gray starred as Barnsley secured their maiden victory at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

The former Sheffield United striker, who replaced Craig Davies in the starting line-up, notched two first-half goals to take his tally for the season to six.

Having played a pivotal role in the mid-table Reds clinching their fourth away victory of the campaign, Gray leads the attack and is partnered by the irrepressible Ched Evans. The Welsh international has bagged 18 goals in 18 starts and was a constant menace at Bury. His clever movement opens up spaces for his Blades teammates and he is working superbly in tandem with Richard Cresswell, who also scored at Gigg Lane.

However, it was Kevin McDonald who was the driving force behind United’s victory at the Lancashire outfit. The Shakers could not cope with the Scot’s intricate passing range. Indeed, United dominate my five-man midfield. I’ve selected Lee Williamson and Stephen Quinn in the wide positions. Both are in a rich vein of form and are capable of scoring and making goals.

Jimmy Juan earned his slot in the centre of midfield alongside McDonald and Barnsley’s Danny Drinkwater after producing a man of the match performance at Leyton Orient. He capped a fine display by netting the Spireites’ first league goal at Orient since 1909.

Sam Hird marshalled Doncaster Rovers back four superbly versus much fancied Cardiff City as they kept a clean sheet and picked up another point in their battle to beat the drop.

Johnny Mullins and Steve Foster shone for the Millers and Reds respectively while goalkeeper Nicky Weaver was unlucky to be on the losing side.
