Reds striker heading in the right direction

Iain Hume - the £1.2 million striker who suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding in an incident with Sheffield United's Chris Morgan last year - is on his way back, as our exclusive picture shows.

The 25-year-old Canada international is revealed going through his paces at Barnsley's training ground yesterday.

Hume said he could have died during the derby incident last November, but is now attempting to force his way back in the Oakwell line-up.

The Blades have wished Hume a "full and speedy recovery".

Meanwhile, ex-Red Dennis Souza has made a surprise switch to Qatari outfit Al-Sailiya Sports.

The Brazilian centre-back played 78 games for Barnsley after joining them in 2007 but was released this summer, with boss Simon Davey looking to bolster his squad with new players.

Souza signed a two-year deal with Al-Sailiya Sports yesterday.

Third-choice goalkeeper Kyle Letheren, Spanish midfielder Diego Leon and Dutch full-back Marciano Van Homoet - who had all been told they would not be offered new deals at Oakwell - officially left the club yesterday after their contracts expired.
