Owls tipped to beat the Rams

Football

Football

Making a promising start to the campaign, Sheffield Wednesday battled back from two goals down on the season’s opening day to snatch a point at Derby and Reda Johnson’s last-gasp leveller in that one spurred the Owls on to record back-to-back victories following that result.

Fast forward six months and Wednesday face the Rams again but that early season optimism has now evaporated and the Owls desperately need the points as they seek to avoid relegation.

On home soil this time, Dave Jones’ troops are 7/5 with Betvictor to emerge victorious while bet365 rate the visitors at 21/10 to hamper Wednesday’s survival and it’s 12/5 (Skybet) to finish all square once more.

A repeat of August’s 2-2 draw can be backed at 14/1 via Coral, Ladbrokes offer the same price for the Owls to be behind at the interval only to earn a share of the spoils and home fans can tackle Skybet’s 8/11 chalked against the hosts in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market.

Shrewsbury have improved in the last couple of months, easing their relegation worries with some solid form underpinned by several draws and they’re 12/5 (Stan James) to hold Sheffield United as the pair lock horns at the Greenhous Meadow.

It’s 11/2 via William Hill to finish one-each but despite the Shrews having steadied the ship, they aren’t as strong as Danny Wilson’s promotion-chasers, who should justify the 6/4 favouritism afforded to them by Coral.

In the reverse fixture back in August, the Blades bagged the only goal of the game and they’re 7/1 with Coral to register another 1-0 success=.

Middlesbrough’s strength at the Riverside, as well as their lofty league position, means they’re odds-on at 5/6 courtesy of Bet365 to overcome Barnsley. Betvictor mark 18/5 against the Tykes registering a priceless success as they look to preserve their Championship status and they’re 12/1 (Stan James) to repeat their 1-0 triumph from the duo’s clash earlier this season but David Flitcroft’s men would probably be happy with a draw on Teesside (5/2, William Hill).

Elsewhere, Doncaster are decent value at even money with Stan James to continue their League One promotion push by overcoming Walsall and Paddy Power price Rotherham at 8/5 to defeat Burton in League Two.

A Chesterfield win against Wimbledon is 4/5 at Coral.
