BARNSLEY boss Keith Hill has told The Star that midfielder Nathan Doyle is the only player who might be offloaded during the current transfer window.

Doyle has struggled to cement a regular starting berth at Oakwell since Hill took over the managerial reigns.

In fact the former Hull City player has featured just 10 times this season, mainly from the substitute’s bench, before being loaned to League One outfit Preston North End where he has impressed.

But speaking exclusively to The Star, Doyle has revealed that he won’t be joining the Lilywhites on a permanent or loan deal anytime soon.

“I think Preston wanted to take me on loan until the end of the season, but the deal wasn’t right unfortunately,” said Doyle. “I don’t think I’ll be going back to Preston.

“I really enjoyed my time at the club, but I’m back at Barnsley now and the gaffer [Hill] has said that I can leave. It’s been really frustrating because for me because all I’ve wanted to do is play football.

“I went to Preston and did well and got some games, but since I’ve come back I’ve not even been given the chance from the substitute’s bench.

“But that’s football at the end of the day. Football is down to opinions. I played a lot under Mark Robins when he was manager, but I’m not playing as much under Keith Hill. I’ve just got to respect the manager’s decision.”
