New Reds recruit happy with debut

NEW boy Korey Smith couldn’t have asked for a better start to his loan spell at Barnsley.
The midfielder, on loan from Norwich City, claimed the man of the match award as the Reds upset Derby County 3-2 on Tuesday night at Oakwell.
The 21-year-old, who is on loan until February 23, capped a fine debut by setting up two goals as Keith Hill’s men moved within six points of the play-offs.
“Hopefully we can keep moving up the table,” said Smith. “I’ve been out for a long time and that was my first match in four months, so it was great to get back on the pitch and set a couple of goals up.
“All the lads are brilliant, they’ve welcomed me with open arms. I’ve got the chance to improve here.
“Being in the division last year, I know that even though you don’t play well sometimes it doesn’t matter so much as long as you get the three points. That’s the most important thing, but I was pleased with my performance.”
