Kozluk set to sign contract extension

BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey expects experienced defender Rob Kozluk to sign a new one-year deal with the club this week.

The former Sheffield United defender is the last player yet to sign a contract offered at the end of last season.

Jon Macken, Luke Steele, Jacob Butterfield, Luke Potter, and Reuben Noble-Lazarus, have already put pen to paper on new contracts which will keep them at Oakwell.

"I have spoken to Rob and he is on holiday at the moment, but he's back in early this week and I expect him to sign his contract," said Davey.

"Rob's an experienced player and an integral part of our team. He played in an important position for us at left back last season and I felt his performances warranted a contract extension.

"It's great news but all the other players have signed their contracts as well, it's good to have consistency and stability, especially with a new season not far away.

"Jon Macken has signed his new contract and I felt he played really well last season, he's scored some important goals. Hopefully, we can find a new striker, negotiations are still ongoing."

Davey also revealed that he is still in negotations with Rangers for highly rated midfielder Charlie Adam, a player who impressed the Welshman whilst on loan at fellow Championship club Blackpool last term.

Barnsley have already had a bid rejected for the player but Davey is keen to get his man for a fee reported to be in the region of 500,000.
