Hill wants strike ace to learn from mistakes

REDS boss Keith Hill is determined to keep helping Ricardo Vaz Te improve in the second half of the Championship campaign.
Portuguese hot-shot Vaz Te, signed on a free transfer from Hibernian in the summer, has netted 10 goals in his last nine appearances.
It’s a record most strikers would kill for but, despite that, Hill continues to express some frustration with the 25-year-old and his tendency to make mistakes both on and off the field.
Vaz Te bagged both the Reds’ goals last weekend as they bowed out of the FA Cup 4-2 against Premier League Swansea, but then dashed off from Oakwell without acknowledging his man-of-the- match award from the club’s match day sponsors.
Hill also pointed the finger at Vaz Te for surrendering possession to the Swans in the build-up to their final, clinching goal, but the manager clearly still has high hopes for his unpredictable striker.
Hill said: “I’m not a social worker, but it’s just education with Ricardo I guess – constant reminders every day.
“We’re continuing to help him and there has clearly been a change between the Ricardo of pre-season to now.
“But when you are playing elite opposition such as Swansea like on Saturday, unfortunately he’s liable to make mistakes. The team can be a lot more vulnerable when you have that type of player in the team. We are trying to help him though, and there’s no doubt he’s trying to help himself.”
