BARNSLEY manager Keith Hill has labelled Nottingham Forest chief Sean O’Driscoll an “unbelievable tactician” and taken a swipe at Doncaster Rovers for sacking him in 2011.
Rovers dispensed with O’Driscoll’s services just over a year ago after losing six out of their opening seven Championship fixtures. He was replaced by Dean Saunders, who failed to keep them in the second tier of English football.
Speaking ahead of the Reds clash with Forest at Oakwell this afternoon, Hill has revealed his admiration for his managerial counterpart.
“Sean is an unbelievable tactician,” he said. “His management credentials were questioned (at Rovers) and I don’t understand why. He is someone who has got a lot of respect in the game.
“I know for a fact Sean was probably linked with and probably turned down two to three opportunities to leave (Rovers). When you talk about the balance of loyalty, he should have been retained as Rovers manager. There is no doubt about that.”
Hill, who has scotched speculation linking him with the vacant Blackburn and Burnley jobs, is unlikely to start new arrival John Rooney.
