BARNSLEY boss Mark Robins is delighted for striker Andy Gray, who bagged a fine goal in Tuesday night's 4-1 demolition of Preston North End.

The former Sheffield United and Burnley hitman put the contest out of reach of the Lilywhites at 3-1.

And new Clarets loan signing Jay Rodriguez scored on his debut to put the icing on the cake for the on-song Reds.

"Andy's been struggling of late, he's had a bit of an injury," revealed Robins.

"He went to the specialist the other day and obviously that's been playing on his mind.

"But thankfully there's nothing wrong and he came out on Tuesday night and showed everyone exactly what he's capable of doing.

"He's stuck the ball in the back of the net once and had another one saved, but the one he stuck in was a really well-executed finish.

"His all-round contribution at Preston was outstanding so I'm really pleased for him."

Meanwhile, Robins has revealed he has got to make a decision on promising youngster Jamil Adam at the end of the season.

The striker's contract is due to expire at Oakwell and Robins will have to make the tough call whether to keep him or let him try and develop his career somewhere else.

Adam featured as a second-half substitute in last Saturday's 1-0 away loss to Reading, but has struggled for first team opportunities with Iain Hume, Andy Gray, Jon Macken and Daniel Bogdanovic ahead of him in the pecking order.

"I've got to make a decision on him (Jamil] at the end of the season," added Robins. "He's a talented lad and I see something special in him, but it's whether I can guarantee him football or not."

And Robins admits he would also like to get young gun Reuben Noble-Lazarus involved, although he wants to be careful he doesn't rush a player he regards as "a talent".
