Bookies back Blades to win

editorial image

It was bound to happen eventually, but for Sheffield United to lose their unbeaten record to a controversial, last-minute penalty at MK Dons, nevertheless made it hard to swallow for Danny Wilson.

Bookies fancy them to bounce back with a victory against fellow high-fliers Stevenage, bet365 installing United as odds-on, 5/6 favourites.

Third-placed Borough are 19/5 with BetVictor to pick up an impressive seventh away success in 10 outings while Skybet’s 13/5 chalked against the draw and William Hill’s 1-1 quote of 6/1 are set to prove popular.

Some might fancy Ladbrokes’ 11/4 for a home victory by a one-goal margin.

Elsewhere, Paddy Power price Wilson’s charges at 11/2 to register a 1-0 success.

Sheffield Wednesday have now suffered back-to-back defeats after they went down 3-1 at Middlesbrough and that run is expected to worsen at Nottingham Forest, where the hosts are BetVictor’s 10/11 favourites and the Owls are 3/1 outsiders to pick up a vital win courtesy of Stan James.

Skybet price a respectable stalemate at 5/2 and it’s 6/1 (BetVictor) to end 1-1.

Optimists might be tempted by bet365’s 12/1 for Wednesday to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline or alternatively they are 11/2 via Ladbrokes to nick it by one.

Paddy Power make Barnsley 5/1 to pick up a three-point haul at Bolton, where Stan James offer 3/1 about it finishing all square.

Bookmakers are struggling to call Doncaster’s trip to Portsmouth, BetVictor quoting both teams at 7/4 to come out on top and that is likely to nudge punters towards the stalemate at 9/4 (Stan James).

Rotherham are 19/20 with William Hill to recover from the 5-0 mauling at Dagenham by beating Cheltenham at the New York Stadium and Skybet rate Chesterfield at 13/10 to see off Oxford.
