Board pledge transfer cash for Hill
Barnsley FC
BARNSLEY director Don Rowing has revealed the club will back manager Keith Hill if he wants to further strengthen his squad during the transfer window.
Hill swooped to sign striker Chris Dagnall from Scunthorpe United earlier this month, with fellow striker Danny Haynes allowed to join Charlton Athletic.
And with young defender Kern Miller having been loaned to Hereford United until the end of the season, Hill remains in the market to add reinforcements to his squad who are in 14th position in the Championship after a fine 2-1 away win against Leicester City at the weekend.
Rowing said: “There’s money available to Keith if he wants to add players to the squad, but at the moment he’s playing his cards very close to his chest. Keith brought Chris in and Danny has left, so we’ll have to see whether he wants to do any more business.
“But at the moment I think he’s happy with the squad he’s got; he believes it’s good enough to keep us up.”
The Star understands that Hill already has his eye on next season’s squad, with his primary aim this term to keep the club in the Championship.
So far Hill is satisfied with his team’s progress.
“We’ve got that united front in our squad which is very pleasing,” said Hill.
“But there’s still plenty of work to be done.”
