Betting: Oakwell’s the place for goals

Barnsley’s last couple of matches have produced nine goals while Sheffield Wednesday’s last outing finished 3-2 so it’s not unreasonable to assume that it will be a high-scoring affair as the pair face-off at Oakwell.

BetVictor post 5/6 against the derby clash generating at least three goals but with the two defences not exactly water tight, it could be worth taking a risk by backing a tally of four or more at 2/1 with Ladbrokes. Stan James meanwhile, offer 4/6 for both teams to get on the scoresheet.

Owls striker Gary Madine is a chunky 8/1 via bet365 to bag the first of those, Mamady Sidibe, who has missed the last couple through injury, is also an 8/1 shot, this time at BetVictor and Stan James rate the pair at 9/4 and 12/5 respectively to find the net at any stage.

Tykes’ Marcus Tudgay will be well backed at 6/1 courtesy of Paddy Power to notch first against his ex- club.

Bookies are less confident about a goal glut at Bramall Lane, where Stan James rate Sheffield United and League One leaders Tranmere at 21/20 to share a minimum of three. Bet365 quote Nick Blackman at 5/1 to grab the first of those, also offering 6/4 for him to strike at any stage.
