BARNSLEY boss David Flitcroft is happy to keep going through the emotions on the touchline, so long as the club keep climbing the Championship table.
Flitcroft cuts a colourful character in his technical area, particularly on Saturday when his side let slip a 1-0 lead in falling 2-1 behind to Middlesbrough.
Joy turned to frustration when Boro bagged their second goal, but ultimately returned to delight as the Reds clinched their sixth win in seven matches in all competitions with a fine 3-2 win.
“They’re are a group of players who just don’t want to get beat anymore,” said Flitcroft.
“I say every night to the players make every day your masterpiece and, when you hit the pillow at night, make sure you’ve done everything you can. And that’s perfection for me.
“The fights have stopped all around the club and I’ve put a lot of fires out. Out of adversity the players want to fight for this club.”
Meanwhile defender Scott Golbourne believes Barnsley’s current form is “frightening”.
The resurgent Reds claimed a fine 3-2 away win over promotion-chasers Middlesbrough to extend their current unbeaten run to seven matches.
And now Golbourne and his teammates have an FA Cup fifthround clash with MK Dons to look forward to on Saturday.
“It [beating Middlesbrough] was another great win for us, the work rate we’re putting in is ridiculous at the moment,” said Golbourne.
“The tempo we’re playing at is frightening and all the lads are producing some real quality.
“Every player that takes the field is carrying the torch so if you combine all those things that appears to have given us the winning formula,
“Maybe we would have taken a point having been behind against a play-off-chasing team like Middlesbrough, but such is the belief in the side then we’re just determined not to lie down.
“We set out at the beginning of the game to take three points, and right now every opportunity we get to do that we’re taking.
“It was a special win.
“It’s all about character. It takes character to start a run and to string together a run of results.
“We’ve just got to continue doing what we’re doing and, if we get beaten, then we get beaten.
“You have to take it on the chin and march on.”
