Barnsley: Star remains at Oakwell for now

BARNSLEY have yet to receive any offers for highly-rated defender John Stones, 18.

Fulham were reported to have made a £1.5m bid, but Reds’ director Don Rowing dismissed that suggestion.

Rowing said: “There’s no truth in that, we’ve had no offers for John. We’ve had interest from a few Premier League clubs, but no one has made an official offer. Hopefully they don’t leave it too long if they want him because we won’t be forced into a deal which is not in the best interested of this club.”

Wigan and Southampton have expressed an interest, while Sunderland are the latest to be linked.
