Barnsley sign striker Parker
BARNSLEY have agreed a fee for Blackpool striker Keigan Parker.
The 25-year-old Scot was due to have talks with Oakwell officials today aimed at completing a transfer before Saturday when the clubs meet in the third round of the FA Cup at Barnsley.
Parker was signed on a free transfer by former Blackpool manager Colin Hendry from St Johnstone in June 2004. He is out of contract at Bloomfield Road in the summer.
He was top scorer for Blackpool last season with 16 goals including one in the play-off final in the 2-0 victory over Yeovil at Wembley. He has yet to get a goal this campaign despite 14 starts and nine appearances off the bench.
The 5ft 7in centre forward had been linked with League One clubs Nottingham Forest and Swansea.
A source close to Blackpool FC estimated the fee to be in the region of 200,000.
Meanwhile three players are leaving Barnsley.
Left back Paul Hecking-bottom is set to sign for Bradford today while Thomas Harban and Nathan Joynes are moving to Halifax.
Rob Atkins' loan to Grimsby has been extended another month.
The imminent arrival of Parker at Oakwell could end Barnsley's interest in Derby's Jon Macken.
He came off the bench for the Premier League club last night in their 1-0 defeat at Bolton.
Macken was on loan at Barnsley alongside Derby centre half Lewin Nyatanga who returned to Pride Park yesterday.
Kelly Youga scored his first goal for Scunthorpe against Barnsley on New year's Day and it could be his last.
The 22-year-old, who can play anywhere along the back four, was on a six-month loan deal at Scunthorpe but has been called back to Charlton by manager Alan Pardew and goes straight into the squad which faces West Brom in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Pardew was unhappy with his side's defending in the New Year's Day defeat by Colchester and is without Danny Mills - whose loan spell is over - Sam Sodje through suspension and injury-hit Ben Thatcher, Cory Gibbs and Grant Basey.
