FORMER Sheffield Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay has “great memories” from his five-year spell at Hillsborough - but will be gunning for them this weekend.
The 29-year-old Barnsley man is determined to get one over his old club.
“I’ve got fond memories of my time at Wednesday,” said Tudgay. “But I’m playing for Barnsley now and I’ll be trying my hardest to help us get a good result. The Barnsley fans have been tremendous with me; it’s really helped me settle in. Unfortunately we’ve been on a bad run, but a win could quite easily change that.
“A win can give you that extra little bit of confidence you need. Everyone will be up for Saturday’s match.”
He added: “Wednesday deserve to be in the Championship, because they’re a great club with great supporters.
“It’s a shame they’re struggling like us at the moment. In my last year there we got relegated, which wasn’t nice, but I think they’re finding out how tough the division is.
“They’ve got a great chairman (Milan Mandaric) who has put a lot of money into the club. They’ve recruited some good players, but they’re under pressure like we are. It makes this weekend’s match very important. Both clubs will be desperate to win.”
