BARNSLEY once passed up on the opportunity to sign Demba Ba.
Senegal striker Ba is on the verge of signing for European champions Chelsea, but had a week-long trial at Oakwell in 2005.
“I went to Barnsley and stayed in a fantastic hotel,” revealed Ba. “The club paid. The trial didn’t work out. We were there a week but it was a bit chaotic.
Meanwhile, the Reds have resigned themselves to losing leading scorer Craig Davies. The Star understands Bolton Wanderers have triggered a £500,000 buy-out clause in his contract and the Wales international is in talks.
