Barnsley: Reds land Red Devils starlet

BARNSLEY have signed Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe on a 28-day loan, writes Neil Goudling.

Tunnicliffe, aged 20, played 26 games on loan at Peterborough United last season and has joined the Reds until Wednesday March 20.

The former England Under-16 and Under-17 international could make his Reds debut away to Bristol City on Saturday as long as the paperwork between the two clubs is completed in time.

Tunnicliffe has played twice for United in the Capital One Cup, featuring in the club’s thrilling 5-4 defeat to Chelsea earlier this season.

“David’s been waiting for Sir Alex Ferguson to give him permission to get Ryan - and now that’s come through we’ve got him for 28 days,” Reds director Don Rowing told The Star.

“I’m sure he’ll be a very good player; most of these young players at Manchester United are.”
