A YOUTHFUL Barnsley second string slid to a disappointing defeat at Frickley last night after scarcely testing the home ‘keeper throughout the whole 90 minutes.
Ronnie Branson’s side, made up chiefly of first year professionals, struggled to force the pace and went down to a smart winning goal in the 40th minute from Brad Grayson. He turned sweetly before squeezing home a shot from the tightest of angles.
Paul Digby performed well in the Reds midfield and Alastair Taylor – fresh from signing a new contract – also grafted hard, but Frickley fully deserved their win.
Grayson almost made it 2-0 late on, but he screwed a shot wide from inside the box.
