Barnsley manager David Flitcroft is relishing the prospect of facing Premier League opposition in the second round of the Capital One Cup.
The Reds, who scraped past Scunthorpe United on penalties in midweek, were yesterday paired with Southampton and the tie will played at Oakwell in the week commencing August 26.
Flitcroft said: “I don’t know if they’ll send a full strength team but they have 40 pros capable of playing in the Premier League. We’re glad we won’t have to travel far and a home tie is good for us.”
The Barnsley chief has also hinted Tomasz Cywka could start in their Championship clash at Blackpool tomorrow after the midfielder impressed as a substitute against Scunthorpe.
Kelvin Etuhu (hamstring) is edging closer to a first-team comeback but Flitcroft says he is unlikely to be available for selection for the next two matches.
