It wasn’t quite the sixth anniversary outing you would have chosen but there was certainly no way, whatever happened, it could match the first one for Luke Steele back in 2008.
It was, of course, that amazing FA Cup win at Anfield with Steele making his debut on loan from West Brom in that 5th round tie the Reds won 2-1 right at the end.
“That was an unbelievable start, of course, with a phenomenal run to the semi-final at Wembley and all of that will stay with me forever,” said the Reds keeper.
It was the sixth anniversary of that win and, therefore, Steele’s time at Barnsley this week although the 2-0 defeat at Wigan on Tuesday meant it couldn’t be a winning celebration.
