CLUB captain Jason Shackell looks to have played his last game for Barnsley.
The Star understands the player has agreed improved terms to sign for fellow Championship side Derby County.
The Rams have offered the Reds a third and improved bid for centre-back Shackell, last season’s Player of the Year at Oakwell and a former Doncaster Rovers loan player.
And even though the 27-year-old has two years left to run on his current three-year-deal, it’s believed the former Norwich and Wolves defender has his heart set on a move to Pride Park to work under Rams boss Nigel Clough.
Shackell and new Reds manager Keith Hill are expected to meet at the end of the week to discuss the players’ future.
