BARNSLEY skipper Jacob Butterfield is now thought to be a January transfer target for Aston Villa.
Butterfield has yet to sign a new contract at Oakwell. His current deal runs out in the summer and there’s plenty of speculation the England Under-21 international could leave the South Yorkshire club when the transfer window re-opens.
Barnsley director Don Rowing said: “There have been no official bids for Jacob. It’s just more paper talk as far as we’re concerned.”
Butterfield has played 23 times this season and scored five goals in his best season so far for the Reds.
