Barnsley boss David Flitcroft is excited about the potential of the club’s strike partnership between Chris Dagnall and Chris O’Grady.
Flitcroft is confident the dangerous duo, given the right support, can cause “chaos” in the Championship.
Former Sheffield Wednesday hitman O’Grady sparkled on loan last season and many of the Reds’ tactics were former around feeding the strong striker and playing off him.
The duo played together at Rochdale, so it’s little surprise O’Grady and Dagnall enjoy being alongside each other.
“Chris is a great physical specimen. He’s got great physical capabilities,” Flitcroft told The Star. “He’s signed for us for two years and I think he can do so much for us in that time.
“Daggers is so hard-working. Without doubt him and Chris are two of the hardest-working centre-forwards in the division.
“I’d liken them to [Craig] Mackaill-Smith and [Aaron] McLean in their pomp for Peterborough. They’re two strikers who give everything for you.
“Those two caused chaos for teams. Chris and Daggers can do that; they’re a great partnership.
“Chris was a big piece in our jigsaw last season and the way we played. I’m excited about this season and what they can achieve.”
Dagnall wasted no time opening his account last week when he needed only ten minutes to score in the club’s first official pre-season friendly at home Club Brugges.
O’Grady and Dagnall started together against the Belgium side at Oakwell in a fixture which finished 1-1.
And the pair are hungry to hit the ground running when the Reds kick of their Championship challenge at home to Wigan Athletic at Oakwell on Saturday August 3.
