BARNSLEY striker Craig Davies is ready to put his shooting boots to the test away to Hibernian today in the club’s first pre-season fixture.
The Reds take on Hibs at Easter Road looking to impress after an intensive week-long training camp in Spain. And Davies, one of seven new summer signings at Oakwell, is hoping to be firing on full cyclinders north of the border.
“It would be nice to score and I’m sure the manager wants us to win, but as well these matches are about getting our fitness levels right and bringing the team together,” Davies told The Star.
“Of course it’s nice to win as many pre-season games as you can, but if we lost all of them and then won our opening five games of the season I’m sure everyone would forget about pre-season pretty quickly.
“It’s going to be a good test for us because Hibernian have already played a few games, so I’d imagine they;ll be pretty sharp.
“But that’s the challenge for us and one which all of us are looking forward too.”
Meanwhile, former Reds striker Liam Dickinson has left Plymouth Argyle for “personal reasons” less than a week after signing for the League Two club.
