BARNSLEY skipper Jason Shackell is believed to be attracting the interest of Burnley boss Eddie Howe.
The Reds have already rejected two £700,000 bids from Derby County for the influential centre-back’s signature.
But speaking exclusively to The Star, a Reds’ insider yesterday revealed that the Clarets had not made an official approach to try to entice the former Norwich and Wolves player to Turf Moor.
“There have been no approaches for Jason other than from Derby, both of which we turned down,” said the source.
Shackell, aged 27, missed just two games last season and impressed in his debut season as the club’s new skipper.
Reds boss Keith Hill said: “He’s a very good player, I’m looking to speak with him before pre-season training to talk about the future.”
Shackell, who also had a successful loan spell with Doncaster Rovers, has two years to run on a three-year contract at Oakwell.
