Former Celtic midfielder Paddy McCourt has revealed he has “no regrets” about leaving the Scottish Premiership champions to challenge himself with Championship strugglers Barnsley.
McCourt has been a revelation since he turned down offers from a number of other clubs to sign for the Reds on a one-year deal.
And after five seasons at Celtic Park, the Northern Irishman is confident playing in the English Championship is another good challenge for him in his professional career.
“[Manager] David [Flitcroft] contacted me in the summer about coming down and having a look at the club,” revealed McCourt.
“I decided to come down and have a look, had a great week with the lads and decided I liked it. I just ended up signing and I’ve enjoyed it since.
“I’d been at Celtic for the last five years and for the last couple I wasn’t really playing, so I was leaving anyway.”
