Wing-wizard Jim O’Brien believes Barnsley’s re-inforcements will help the club retain their Championship status this season – even if that means he doesn’t get a game every week.
The arrival of former Celtic playmaker Paddy McCourt at Oakwell has meant O’Brien has struggled to cement a regular starting place during the last month.
But the hard-working Scot showed his true colours with a battling man-of-the-match performance when introduced as an early substitute in a 1-1 away draw with Ipswich Town earlier this month.
O’Brien netted the all-important equaliser as the Reds claimed a welcome point on their travels to Portman Road.
And now back in the side – and pushing hard to stay there – O’Brien knows he can’t afford to take anything for granted.
