BARNSLEY striker Garry O’Connor has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The former Scottish international joined the Reds on a permanent contract in December of last year until the end of the season having been released by Birmingham City.

The forward, who had two previous one-month loan spells with the club, bagged four goals during his spell at Oakwell - including memorable strikes against Leeds United and a last-gasp winner at Preston North End.

Reds boss Mark Robins said: “We wish Garry all the best for the future”.
