HEADING off to do battle with rich kids Leicester today certainly doesn’t faze Barnsley’s barnstorming midfielder, Miles Addison.
Addison, who extended his initial half-season loan deal from Derby until January 20 recently, is an admirer of the Foxes, but his Reds teammates can take heart from their performance in the reverse fixture in September.
Addison, who has made 11 league and cup appearances for Barnsley this term, said: “When they came to Oakwell we took the lead and looked very comfortable before drawing 1-1.
“Therefore we’ll go there with no fear.
“Leicester haven’t really had the season everyone expected, but for us we’ve just got to get an unbeaten run going again. Our 11 is as good as their 11 on our day.
“They seem to have under-performed, although I’m not sure how they’ll view from their own camp.
“The seven-match run we had earlier in the season really sent us flying up the table, but then that’s the Championship.
“It’s tough, and everything seems to be up and down.
“Lately we have conceded too many goals, and that’s not what the manager is about. He wants us to have a solid team structure.
“We’ll get back to basics, and hopefully that’ll start at Leicester.
“We’re only six points off the play-offs and I know everyone seems to say this club should just worry about staying in the division, but I believe if we keep everyone fit and have a strong 11 out there week in, week out, this team is capable of making a late surge towards the top of the table.”
Whether 23-year-old Addison will still be at Oakwell by the end of the season remains to be seen, however.
He added: “I’m not really sure where my future lies at the moment, all I know is that I’m here until the 20th of January.
“Maybe I’ll extend my loan deal or maybe end up back at Derby. I’m not too sure at all.”
