Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is convinced his confidence-hit players still have the hunger and desire to achieve Championship survival this season.
A 5-0 hammering aby Huddersfield Town last weekend is arguably the biggest low at Oakwell since Wilson took charge for a second spell.
But although the Reds sank to the bottom of the table after defeat, other results went their way as fellow strugglers also fell short.
And the equation, albeit still a daunting one, is that the club had 14 games to haul themselves out of the bottom three in what promises to be a fight which could go right down to the wire, as last term.
“I’ve got no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the fight is still in there [with the players],” stressed Wilson.
“Of course I do, I work with these players every day.
“[Getting beat so heavily] was just so out of the blue, well it surprised us.”
