Liam Lawrence had his ear bent by good made Bobby Hassell to join Barnsley.
And on Thursday morning Hassell had his way as his friend became the Reds’ third new signing since Danny Wilson returned to Oakwell for a second managerial spell.
Wilson, with a little bit of helpful persuasion from Hassell, helped Lawrence decide to quit his Greek football adventure for a move back to England.
The former Sunderland and Stoke City winger returned to Greece this week to agree a premature end to his contract with parent club PAOK Salonika.
And having trained with the Reds on an initial week-long trial, Lawrence made his stay at Oakwell permanent by penning a short-term deal until the end of the season.
