FOUR Barnsley academy scholars have signed professional contracts at the club.
Promising talents Sam Patterson, Matty Steade, Brad Kilburn and Jake Scott have all signed one-year deals which start on July 1.
Midfielder Patterson has impressed for the clubs’ academy team this season, as have trio of defenders Steade, Kilburn and Scott.
The deals follow the professional deals signed by striker Danny Rose, midfielder Paul Digby and defender John Stones, all of whom featured at some stage for the Reds’ first team last season.
“I’m very pleased with the amount of lads who have earned professional deals with the club,” said Barnsley academy boss Ronnie Branson.
“They have been an excellent group all season and have excelled both on and off the field.
“A lot of hard work has gone into it from all the backroom academy staff, but I’ve got to give [manager] Keith Hill credit as well. He’s given youth a chance.”
