Danny Wilson has backed midfielder Paul Digby to emerge as a key player for Barnsley next season.
Injuries have curtailed the 19-year-old’s development over the last year but Wilson is confident Digby can become a regular given a good run of fitness.
“We’re looking for new players in virtually every position but I expect some positions to be claimed by some of the young players,” Wilson said.
“Paul Digby is one of the lads we hope will step up to the plate this year.
“Unfortunately he’s not had enough football due to all his injuries.
“But we’ve seen plenty in the way he’s worked and prepared in pre-seasons and towards the end of last season to be confident of him coming to the fore.”
