Birmingham City goalkeeper Nick Townsend has joined Barnsley on a short-term youth loan.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper has been brought in to add competition for the number one jersey, with former Sheffield Wednesday keeper Adam Davies the current first-choice.
"I am really pleased to join Barnsley, it should be an exciting season ahead," said Townsend.
"I know the club's goalkeeping coach John Vaughan and, after speaking to [the manager] Lee Johnson, I can't wait to get cracking.
"Barnsley are hungry and talented and I'm really looking forward to pushing Adam Davies as far as possible during my time here."
