Barnsley have signed Manchester City striker Devante Cole on loan until 5 January.
Cole, the son of former England and Manchester United striker Andy, is expected to make his debut for the Reds against Coventry City tonight at the Sixfields Stadium.
The 19-year-old has yet to make his first team debut for the defending Premier League champions and has played much of his football for the club’s Under-21 development side.
But the highly-rated teenager did make his debut for the Blues in the club’s pre-season tour of South Africa in July 2013 against SuperSport United in Johannesburg.
Last season the striker netted 16 goals in 32 games for City, home and abroad.
“What we’ve got is a highly-promising young lad who wants to start his league career,” said Reds boss Danny Wilson.
“He’s had plenty of opportunities to go to clubs, but he’s decided we are the right one for him. We’re very privileged in that respect.
“Now we have to try and develop him by giving him games at first-team level.
“What he has got is great pace and an eye for goal. He can be a very exciting acquisition for us.”
