Barnsley face a mouth-watering clash with Scunthorpe United in the first round of this year’s Capital One Cup.
The Reds were drawn to face the Iron in yesterday’s live draw ahead of the new season.
And today Reds boss Lee Johnson will also find out who his team will open up their League One season against with the official fixtures for next season to be unveiled.
The match at Glanford Park will take place on Tuesday 11th August (7.45pm) kick-off, with Johnson pitting his side against former Reds’ boss Mark Robins.
The two clubs met in the first round in the same competition two years ago with the Reds triumphing 5-4 after a thrilling penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, Reds legend Bobby Hassell has revealed he is delighted he is finally being given a testimonial match at the club.
Hassell made a staggering 299 appearances for the Reds and next month with play for a special Reds’ side against his first club Mansfield Town as opponents for his celebration match on Saturday 18th July.
“It’s taken a lot longer than I would have expected or hoped,” said Hassell.
“But I’m thankful to the current manager for letting it happen during his pre-season.
“I know it’s probably disruptive to what he wants to do so I really appreciate that. I appreciate the club giving me the day.
“Hopefully there will be a lot of fans there. It’s a great way to say goodbye in a proper manner.”
Bobby recently returned from India where he now plays and coaches for Bharat.
“Whilst I’ve been away there have been people texting me about the game and asking me,” he added.
“I’d like to thank Darren Hayes and Bruce Dyer for sorting out the game whilst I was away. It’s all go-ahead and I’m really thankful to everyone for it.”
