BARNSLEY director Don Rowing is delighted Sheffield Wednesday have won promotion back to the Championship.

And he’s hoping Sheffield United follow suit, with the Reds relishing the chance to renew their derby rivalries with the two clubs.

“I’m pleased for Wednesday, it’s going to be great to play them next season,” Rowing told The Star. “They’ve been in the top few places in the table all season, so it was great to see them promoted. And hopefully United will get promoted too.

“We’ve had some great games with both clubs down the years; we’ve always had a good, healthy rivalry.

“Our fans always look forward to derby matches against Sheffield clubs; it’s good to have those Yorkshire derbies. It’s sad that Doncaster were relegated, but hopefully they bounce back next season.”

Jim O’Brien has yet to sign his new two-year contract, although the winger has until the end of May to make his mind up whether he’ll stay at Oakwell next season.
