BARNSLEY have today signed free agent Tom Kennedy subject to clearance from the Football League, writes Neil Goulding.
The former Bury, Rochdale and Leicester City defender has agreed to join the Reds until January 2 with the view to a permanent deal.
Kennedy, aged 27, played under Reds’ boss Keith Hill at Rochdale and made nearly 150 appearances for the club between 2007-2010 before penning a pre-contract with Leicester City.
Bury-born Kennedy played six times in total for the Foxes and made his debut for the Championship club in September 2010.
But the left-back found opportunities limited and was loaned back to Rochdale. He also had two loan spells with Peterborough United in 2011 before making his full debut for Leicester in January this year.
However, Kennedy and the Foxes reached a mutual agreement to cancel his contract last month.
